HOW TO PREPARE DIGITAL IMAGES
FOR VIDEO PROJECTION (E-PHOTO)

Open the image in Photoshop. MAKE SURE IT IS A COPY OF THE ORIGINAL.
(The screen illustrations below where taken from an Apple Macintosh computer running Adobe Photoshop CS3.
If you are using a Windows or Vista operating system, or running Photoshop Elements, the screen may look slightly
different, but the same settings will be available).

Go to Image>Image Size

Image Size Dialog will open as follows:

The three check-boxes at the bottom of the dialog window must be ÒcheckedÓ (Ã).

Set the resolution to 72.

Set the pixel width (for a horizontal image) in the ÒPixel DimensionÓ portion of the dialog window as follows (the height will adjust itself):

For a vertical image, set the height in the ÒPixel DimensionÓ portion of the dialog window as follows (the width will adjust itself):

Put the pointer over ÒBicubicÓ near the bottom of the dialog window, click and hold the mouse button:

Choose ÒBicubic SharperÓ from the drop-down menu:

Click OK.

Go to the menu File>Save AsÉ

Make sure that you ÓcheckÓ (Ã) the colour profile as follows:

In the ÒSave AsÉÓ dialog window, find the item ÒFormatÓ. Click and hold on ÒPhotoshopÓ  and then selectÓ JPEGÓ from the drop-down menu:

Click on the ÒSaveÓ button.

Another dialog window will come up (see next page) in which you can set the quality of the JPEG image. First make sure that ÒBaseline (ÒStandardÓ) is the selected option. Move the slider to the middle, then wait a few moments until the image size appears (lower down in the dialog window). Keep moving the slider to the left or right, until the image size is approximately 350k.

Press OK or ENTER.

The image on the screen will resize. To view it easily, go to View>Fit on Screen

At this point, you may wish to sharpen the image slightly (do not oversharpen as this will show up when projected).

As a final step you can add a white border by selecting the foreground colour as white (on the little squares at the bottom of the toolbar), then selecting the whole image (Select>All), then going to Edit>Stroke and entering the parameters ÒInsideÓ and 4 pixels.
